Episode 9

Materials Engineering

How much can the discipline gained from studying at a conservatory contribute to the discipline needed in research? Quite a lot, says Vasiliki (Vicky) Tsakaloudi. She studied Chemistry at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and now works as a researcher. Her work focuses on ferrites—ceramic materials widely used in electronic devices. It is interdisciplinary and full of challenges, such as time management and balancing career with family life. For her, collaboration and mutual support are key to success in research. She believes that optimism and persistence in one’s ideas are what ultimately drive major advances.

“Mission Possible”, featuring Vicky Tsakaloudi, researcher specializing in inorganic materials at the Institute of Chemical Process and Energy Resources (CPERI) of CERTH.
