Short bio:
She is a Postdoctoral Fellow (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions) at the Laboratory of Environmental Fuels and Hydrocarbons, Institute of Chemical Processes and Energy Resources (CPERI), Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). After graduating in 2007 as a Diploma Mechanical Engineer from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia, she pursued doctoral studies in Chemical Engineering, completing her PhD in 2012 at Aston University, United Kingdom. Her doctoral research focused on the energy valorisation of biomass for the production of sustainable biofuels and contributed to the completion of the European project “Biosynergy”, aimed at the assessment of biorefineries.
Her research and academic activities focus on thermochemical biomass energy conversion processes (pyrolysis, gasification), plastic waste management, and the optimization of such systems through techno-economic modelling and simulations. The SURPLAS project, funded under MSCA, aims at the integrated energy recovery of plastic waste via gasification for the production of hydrogen-rich synthesis gas and its conversion into synthetic liquid fuels and H₂, contributing to the decarbonisation of the energy and transport sectors. The project’s innovation lies in the systematic investigation of the relationship between polymer type, gasification conditions, catalytic performance, and syngas quality, targeting the commercial viability of the process.
