Short bio:
We invite you to an interactive “Chat Lab” with Professor Evangelia Ntzani on the theme “Healthy Planet, Healthy Children” where we will explore the vital links between environment, health and well-being. The discussion will focus on how environmental pollution and food safety directly affect children’s health through the framework of “One Health” — the idea that human health is inextricably linked to animal health and environmental health. Together, we will interpret the accumulated epidemiological evidence in simple terms, discussing ways to protect children from modern environmental hazards. Come share your concerns in an open discussion for a safer, sustainable future. Dr. Evangelia Ntzani, MD, PhD is Professor of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Director of the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology at the Medical School of the University of Ioannina, Professor in the Department of Health Services, Policy and Practice at the School of Public Health at Brown University, USA, and a member of the Biomedical Research Institute of FORTH. She is a medical epidemiologist with clinical specialization in pediatrics and community medicine and public health. Her research interests include public health, clinical, environmental and molecular epidemiology, behavioral interventions, evaluation of large-scale clinical and molecular information, evidence-based medicine, and research methodology. Her scientific work is integrated into national and international research consortiums and has 19,947 references in the international bibliography (h index: 55; i10-index: 131). The synthesis of scientific information is at the core of Ms. Ntzani’s scientific activity. She holds a position in the Panel on Contaminants in the Food Chain at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and is the Coordinator of the Working Group on the Toxicity Assessment of Pesticides at the European Scientific Advisory Mechanism (SAM) of the European Commission. She is President of the Hellenic Society of Social Paediatrics & Health Promotion.
